In November 2014, Ms. Blumenthal was elected to her third term on the Riverside Community College District Board of Trustees, where her leadership as President has helped bring strong fiscal management and a range of improvements to the three-college district. She has served as President of the Riverside County Philharmonic, is one of the founders of the Riverside County High School Mock Trial program, and is a founding director for the Riverside Police Foundation. Ms. Blumenthal was a Board of Directors member for Riverside Boys and Girls Club; Riverside Opportunity Center Board of Directors member; and Head Judge of the Riverside County Spelling Bee for more than 30 years.
She has received many awards for her extensive volunteer contributions to the community, including the distinguished Gold Key Award from Soroptimist International of Riverside, the Athena Award, YWCA Women of Achievement Award, an honorary life member award from the Fraternal Order of Police Riverside Lodge 8, and the NAACP Law & Justice Award. Ms. Blumenthal’s work has been recognized by the President of the United States; the Governor of California; the Mayor of Riverside; the California State Assembly and State Senate; the Riverside County Board of Supervisors; and the Riverside City Council. She is mother of 4 children and grandmother to 7 grandchildren.
